"One of the more intriguing albums I've heard in a while, Grassman's 58-minute opus is a unique mix of bombastic prog rock, piano pop, and opera." “Jennifer Grassman has a voice all her own in a world of conformity.”
Brian Ray, Bassist & Guitarist for Paul McCartney Serpent Tales and Nightingales is ... "a swirl of lush arrangements and emotional, tumultuous lyrics. There are tempestuous pianos, crashing drums and velvety vocals." Joey Guerra, The Houston Chronicle “I find myself escaping to another world when I hear these songs.” Catherine Lu, Associate Producer, Houston NPR | KUHF “Grassman seems to be an old soul with a contemporary heart.” Retta Blaney, Theater Critic, Journalist & Author “[In] Serpent Tales & Nightingales, Jennifer Grassman has not only demonstrated her ability to maintain her artistic integrity and produce a quality product, she has also shown other independent recording artists what they can accomplish through hard work, determination and the support of their fans and friends.” David Sadof, Houston Music Examiner “A chilling melody plays around you, haunting lyrics drawing you into a story, pulling emotions from you, creating a vivid image of a world you somehow know. You’ve just heard a Jennifer Grassman song.” Victoria Voller, The American Chronicle & The Twisted Peppermint “This is an amazing cd that I like more and more each time I listen to it. Jennifer Grassman is a master storyteller as well as an extremely gifted musician. It is refreshing to hear original music that actually sounds original!! I can't wait until the next cd comes out!” Amy Holland, Listener “This album is worth every second spent listening to it. And trust me, you'll find it hard to stop listening. Definitely one to keep in or next to your cd player for a long time.” Bastiaan De Groot, Listener "Simple words cannot describe this album! I have listened to it during all manner of emotional states, and I always feel better afterwords. Jennifer is an incredible singer / songwriter, and a talented pianist. I am also honored, and humbled to be a sponsor for this album." Wade Saint John, Listener “Literally, the songs deliver a full course of lyrical creativity from the humor of The Haunting to the poignant soul-searching of Foundling. An ambitious and enjoyable musical feast!” Gwendolyn Taylor, Listener “I have listened to Jennifer Grassman's cd about 50 times already and each time, I love the songs more and more. They bring me peace whenever I listen to them. 'Foundling' speaks to me on a personal level and gives me chills!” Valerie Hartzell, Listener “I LOVE this CD!!! I'm not usually one who enjoys prog rock/pop music, but Grassman has produced a wonderful album that I listen to over and over again. Some of the tracks are very silly while others are somber, but messages of hope are written all over the music. Not only are the lyrics deep and very often moving, but the music itself always fits perfectly. Grassman's piano playing is only surpassed by her singing ability. ST&N is well worth buying.” Elisa Holland, Listener |
